My brother Vinnie and his wife Jordan had the cutest little baby girl on Dec 19th. When we went down to Pioche for Christmas we were able to meet her. I just feel in love with her. She is so precious, little, and stinking cute. I am a little bias though. Here are some pics of Demi and her big sister Kloe.

We are so happy that Demi has joined our family. Now we just pray that she will have the patience to put up with her dad ;)

We celebrated our 6th anniversary in November. I can't believe how fast time flies when you are with the one you love. Even though the road we are on isn't quite how we had expected it to be, I am so glad that I have Chris by my side.

Don't Faint

I don't want y'all to faint because after about 3 months or so I have finally updated our blog. I feel like we have really had nothing to blog worthy. We have done a lot of fun stuff and made some pretty cool things. We have been working on our yard the last little while. Yeah you heard me I said yard. We now have grass, flower beds, and garden boxes for the spring. Here are a few updates of things that we have done.

Projects

I have had Chris busy making me projects and then I paint them. It has been so much fun. I love it. For my wards super saturday they did these picture frames. You were supposed to bring your own frame and they provided the chicken wire and clothes pins. Anyways, Chris made my frames and then I painted and distressed them. I love how they turned out. Pretty dang cute if ya ask me. Then we have also been putting our guest bedroom together. I have loved every minute of it. Its right up my ally. I have been wanting to make a head board for the bed and finally came up with what I wanted. Chris and I whipped it out in about a half an hour. It was so easy and cheap. I wanted it to look like old barn wood and I think I was able to accomplish that with some good ole vinegar and steel wool pads. It was so cool to watch. Whoever sleeps in that bed will dream about coloring easter eggs because it still smells like vinegar. Once I get the room all done I will post more pictures of it. Until then here are a couple of the projects that we have done.

Birthdays

Chris and I turned one year older in August. Our birthdays are just under a week apart so its a lot of birthday cake for a week or so. Here are our cakes this year.

Date Night

One night for date night we went camping... in our living room. We made tin foil dinners, set the tent up in the living room, and roasted marshmallows out back over our little grill. We played domino's in the tent and watched a movie through the door. It was a lot of fun! Our pictures turned out kind of blurry and there aren't to many. You get the idea though.

Chris and I just celebrated our first year in our house. Its crazy to think that a year has already come and gone by. We have loved every minute of it. We love our home, our neighbors, our ward, and the area. I would have never thought that I would say, " I love Spanish Fork".

We have been doing a lot of things around the house this summer. Over memorial day weekend we put in our yard. My dad came up for a few days and helped Chris and I perform a 3 day miracle. We did our sprinklers and sod in those 3 days. We also had the help of my family and amazing members of our ward to help lay the sod and spread dirt. Last night we had some one come and do our curbing for our flower beds. We just need to make them look like flower beds now and not weed beds. If only we had a money tree:) Having the yard done sure does make our home look like a home now. We also don't have as much sand and dirt every where.

Erika's Graduation!!!

This last weekend Chris' youngest sister Erika graduated from High School, so we came down to Houston for it. It's been way to long since our last visit and we forgot how much we missed Texas. This is the new bench that Chris made me and then I painted it and did the finishing touches. Its just perfect for our entry way. I still need to get a couple of baskets to go in it and I am going to make a couple of throw pillows to put on it. I will have to put pictures of it when I get that done. I just love it though. My hubby is turning out to be quite the little wood worker. It's a lot fun, but turning into expensive hobby. The reason it's expensive is because I just want to keep buying wood and paint and making things. It's a good thing I work, so that I can. Here are a couple of pictures of it. Home Projects

We had such a productive weekend last weekend. Chris and I framed our mirrors, which look so good & I love them. We also made a rise for our laundry machines to sit on. I have been wanting to do this forever. Thanks to Kyle for getting us started we finally did it. They turned out really cute too. Pain in the butt to put in our laundry room once we finished it, but I think that it will be well worth it. Here are some pics of our finished projects.

Chris' sister Mariko is having a baby boy in May and we are super excited. I have kind of made it a tradition of ours to make a baby quilt for our nieces and nephews when they are born. (I didn't do the first two though, sorry Bailey and Sophie maybe one day I will make you guys one). Anyways, Mariko is doing an owl theme so I thought I would make baby H an owl blanket. I don't know why I wait until the last minute, but I do and pretty much did this in a day. It was a lot of fun though and I think that it turned out pretty cute. We can't wait to meet you soon hopefully.

Once again a major update. We have been super busy these past couple of months. I got called into the Relief Society presidency and that has taken up a bit of my time along with work and life. I wouldn't have it any other way though. Keeping busy that is. I was planning and wanting to update our blog a long time ago and haven't had time and finally got it done. 1st Thanksgiving

We had Thanksgiving this year at our home with my family. It was our first Thanksgiving in our new home. It was so much fun. We realized that we need to finish the basement to have more room for people to sleep in. I loved spending time with all of my family. We did the black Friday sales and just hung out. The sad thing is the only pictures that we got were of the food that Chris made not of any us. His food was really good though.

We went out to Indianapolis in November for the a weekend. Chris' youngest sister Erika was performing in the BOA Grand Nationals competition. This was my first band competition and it was actually a lot of fun. They did such a great job and it was totally way intense. It was good to spend time with family, even though we didn't see much of Erika. After watching their way intense practice, Chris told me that he could still march. I'm still waiting to see it.

Bah Bah Bah Black Sheep

One Sunday I looked out our back door and saw the field behind us full of sheep. It was so much fun to have them back there. My niece Bailey said " I know what happened to the Sunflowers in your back yard. Your sheep in your back yard ate them." Chris finally finished his master degree. He pretty much wrote his thesis in a few months and rocked it. We are so glad to be done, probably more him than me. Just when I thought that I would get my husband back he got called as the ward executive secretary. So pretty much that didn't happen. Oh life, there is always something I guess. Here is Chris with his thesis right after he defended. I am so proud of him and all of his hard work. All I can say is that my hubby rocks!

For Chris's birthday my parents got him tickets to the Utah vs TCU foot ball game. We had been looking forward to this game forever it seemed like. College Game Day was there because Utah was ranked 5th and TCU 3rd . We got all decked out in our Utah attire and headed up to the U for the Black Out game. We had so much fun doing all of the pre-game stuff and then the game started. We have definitely seen better games, that's for sure. The fact that our seats were right next to TCU section didn't help the matter. Here are some pictures from our day.

Conference Weekend

Another wonderful General Conference for our church has come and gone. We look forward to this weekend for so many reasons. Chris' dad comes to Utah for the weekend, which we love. We have fun little traditions that we do together every conference. This year was my 5th year joining them for it. Where has the time gone. I have loved everyone of them. We also were able to listen to a Prophet of God and other church leaders. I love the spirit ya feel and the chance that we have to become better. Such a great spiritual recharge. Just what I needed. Then I also was able to spend girls night with Eva and my cute little nieces and nephew. It was a lot of fun. Once again not very good at taking pictures. I was going to take some more but Chris said,"We already have pictures of this." I should have done it anyways. Oh well next time.

Chris had a work party a couple of weeks ago and it was so much fun. He has the best boss ever and his wife totally rocks also. We went up to a cabin at timber lakes had a bbq and then had our own little world cup. It was so much fun. We had our own teams and then there where different games minute to win it games that we played. My camera died half way through the night so I didn't get very many pictures. Kyle and his family came down and spent the weekend with us and we had so much fun. The boys built this amazing shelf for our garage for us. I absolutely love it. Kyle taught Chris how to do the wood working thing and I think that he really enjoyed it. Which I am glad, because I have a ton more projects that I want to do around the house. While the boys were working us girls kind of just played. We went to the new park here in Spanish Fork and the kids had a ton of fun playing in the water. University Mall Summer Concerts

Chris and I made a trip out to San Francisco for Memorial day weekend. We were able to stay with our good friends the Aguilar's. We had so much fun and did a ton of stuff. I don't even think that I could list all that we did. I can say for the most part if it's there, we did it or saw it. I also think that we probably gained at least 10 lbs. I really have been into beading. Such an expensive hobby. I love it though. Here are a few of necklaces that I have made.

Chris' sister Erika turned the big 17 in May so I though that I would make her a blanket. I think it turned out so dang cute, but I did make it. I just love all of the colors in it. I had a hard time giving this one up. It sounds like she loves it, which makes it easier to give up.

Kyle now I just need to finish yours. This one took me 3 days and yours has taken me 2 years. I think that there is something wrong with that.

My mom came to town for women's conference this year. It was so much fun to be able to be with her and be inspired. I really learned a lot and realized how grateful I am to be a women and daughter of God.

We are Back

I hadn't realized how long it had been since our last post. I guess not to much happens around our neck of the woods. Just a little catch up on what we are doing. Chris just finished classes and is almost done with finals. We are hoping that he will be done with his masters in August. Just so ya know I am doing cartwheels up down the apt now. So excited!!! There is a good chance that we are going to stay here in Provo. The company where he works now really wants to keep him and he really wants to stay with them. So hopefully everything works out.

As for me, I am just staying busy with work and have really been into beading lately. I have made some pretty awesome necklaces if I do say so myself. Having the Bead Fairy come to Orem probably wasn't the best thing for my check book. Its super fun though and relaxing to me. I will have to post some pictures of my stuff sometime. I also have taken up making hemp bracelets. What else... I bought some super cute material to make myself a blanket. So expect pictures of that some time in the near future.

A couple of fun things that have happened. Chris has been trying for 5 years to get an intramural t-shirt and finally became an intramural champ. We are both so dang excited.

We also went up to Utah's Spring Game. It has kind of turned into a tradition of ours. It's a lot of fun just to be with each other. Chris loves to be amongst all of those Ute fans. One other super exciting thing is, we made it to The Jerk Shack. I have been wanting a Jamaican patty ever since my mission and they had some. Oh heck was it ever dang good. I will for sure be going back. Anyways, here are a couple of pictures of our outings. Enjoy!!!

What we've been up to

Well it's been awhile since I have posted anything. I have been busy doing a lot of little crafty projects and what not. It's been a lot of fun to work on my talents and improve them. A lot of them were for Christmas gifts and just because I wanted to try and make them. I thought that I would show ya what I have been making and what I have been doing with my time.

I have started making watchbands, bracelets, and necklaces. Its been so much fun and I am totally addicted to beading.

I have been wanting to make skirts for my nieces for some time now. So one day I went and bought some material and just kind of whipped one out. I think it turned out pretty cute for not having a pattern and knowing really what I was doing.

I also made a matching hair clip to go with it. It looked so cute on little Kloe. Now I need to make 2 more for Bailey & Sophie.

For christmas I asked my parents for a cake decorating kit and stuff. I have been playing around with it. This is cake #2. I am still trying to teach myself and figure out how to make roses. One of these days I am going to try the whole fondant thing. That will be fun.

For valentines day I made Chris this cute little thing.

I have been doing a lot of thinking over the last month or so about how extremely blessed I am and how much my Heavenly Father loves me and my family. I was thinking back over the last year and how much the Lord has had a hand in our lives. Last December our lives were turned upside down. It was one of the hardest things that the two of us has gone through in our marriage. It was also one of the best things for us. We grew together as a couple and we had to turn to each other and to the Lord for help. My love for Chris and my savior grew so much. As much as Chris and I wanted to go to Houston, I am starting to see and understand why we are still in Provo. We have truly been blessed.The last year has made me realize how very grateful I am for is the gospel in my life. I honestly do not know where I would be with out it. My grandma just passed away and I was reminded how awesome it is that we can be together again with our loved ones. I love knowing that Chris is stuck with me FOREVER and that families are forever. How stinking cool is that?I have been learning a lot about the Lords time table, his will, faith, and patience. Things that I have had to work on. Luckily the Lord is loving and patient with me. I am grateful for the priesthood in my home. What a great blessing it is to have a husband that is worthy of it. I am grateful for a Savior that loves me no matter what I do. He never leaves me and is always there for me.A few years ago when we were down in Houston we went to a Rockets game. At that time the teams motto was," Live it. Every day. Every game." and they were showing it every where. Since then I have thought about this a lot. I have thought about it in the gospel sense though and have tried to do just that. Live it (the gospel) every day. I am so much happier when I do.I guess I am just blabbing on, but I have been thinking about a lot lately. I really do have so much to be grateful for and will forever be in debt to my Heavenly Father and Savior.

This is a picture of my great grandma Bleak & me at my wedding. She lived to be 98 years old. What a life she had lived. She had 3 kids, 20 grand children, 70 great grand children, & 19 great great grand children. She will for sure be missed.

Christmas in Pioche

I am a little late on the whole blogging thing lately. I forgot our charger for the lap top in Pioche, which makes it a little hard to use the computer with when its pretty much dead. Our neighbors were nice enough to let us use their charger today and so I get to blog now.

We went to Pioche for Christmas and had such a good time. All of my family was there, which made for a full house. It was so fun to spend time with everyone, especially all of my nieces and my new little nephew. Over half of the family got sick so that wasn't much fun, but we were able to still have a good time. Here are some pictures from our Christmas this year.

Here is our Christmas tree. I wanted to put it up pretty much after Halloween, but knew that I couldn't. So I patiently waited until after Thanksgiving and loved every minute of having it up.

This was my parents Christmas tree on Christmas eve. My parents have decided that they need to add onto the house, or we could just buy less stuff. Santa for sure made it to Pioche though.

Bailey got a lot of dress up stuff as you can see. She did made up her daddy. I had my share of dress up sessions also. She made me look so sexy that Chris had a hard time resisting me. Too bad I didn't get a picture of it.

We had such a great Christmas this year. This is my favorite time of year for many reasons. I love being able to reflect on the Savior and his life. I love being able to spend time with loved ones. And I just love the spirit of Christmas. What a great time of year.

I know that I have said this time and time again, but I just love being an aunt. Probably because I have the cutest nieces ever and now I have the cutest nephew ever. My brother Kyle and his wife Eva had their little guy on Thurs night. I am so excited that little Daxton Paul Donohue joined our family. He is a little out numbered right now, but I am sure he will be well taken care of. We love you Daxton and can't wait to meet you. I hope to get some pics of him soon to show him off.

This last month has been super busy and so much fun. We celebrated our 4th anniversary, which was awesome. I am so lucky to married to the most amazing husband ever. Oh how I love him and look forward to the years to come. I went to the Twilight premier with the gals. We went to Houston for Thanksgiving and had such a great time down there. It was so much fun to be with the family and enjoy the nice warm weather down there. While we were there we went to the Renaissance Festival, the Galleria, and to Old Town Spring. It was really cool cause I hadn't done any of these things. We also went to my favorite Thai restaurant "Thai Shiam". I sure do love that place. We also ate some dang good food. Chris' mom sure can cook. We were able to hang out with our good friends that Bassetts and Chris played in the Ward Turkey Bowl. I think thats pretty much our Smorgasbord of events.

My brother Kyle & sis-in-law are having a baby boy in Dec. Eva had a baby shower so I whipped out baby quilt for them. I did this in less than 12 hours, which is pretty quick. I ran out of time, so I didn't get to do a couple of things that I had wanted to. I think that it turned out pretty cute though. I had seen this quilt & thought I can make that, so I did.

We kept seeing IT everywhere. So Erika & I decided to take a pic. I guess I was kind of staring trying to figure if they were real or not. She said, "Honey you haven't been drinking that much. They are real as ever." It was kind of funny. The whole festival was really cool though.

I know that this is kind of late, but Happy Thanksgiving! Let the Christmas season begin now. I can't wait & am so excited. I have already put of our Christmas decorations & been listening to Christmas music. I am loving it.

Mulletts Galore

We have been up to quite a bit these past few weeks. A couple of things that have been happening. ESPN's College Game Day come to BYU and Chris was able to go with a couple of friends. I wanted to go but had to work :( Too bad BYU got their butts kicked by TCU. As Chris put it, " TCU is bigger, faster, stronger, & blacker (more athletic)." Totally cracked me up. Don't think he is racist, because he's not. Anyways, he sure did have a lot of fun doing the whole Game Day thing.

Halloween was a lot of fun. Chris' boss at works likes to dress up and have everyone dress up. Chris knowing this for awhile had been thinking a lot about what he wanted to be. He had it narrowed down to two things... a white trash person or a BYU fan. He couldn't pull himself to be a BYU fan and opted for the white trash guy. It's kind of funny cause he is part asian. My opinion is he just looked so nasty and funny. Anyways, for work his boss and his wife decided for their work party they wanted to take everyone to the movie. We went and saw "Where the Wild Things Are." It was so nice of them and fun. We also had a little Halloween party with some people from our ward, so Chris was able to wear his costume again.

Chris' grandpa Yeates had his knee replaced this last week so we were able to go and spend time with him and some of his other family. It's always fun to see them and spend time with them.

This past weekend was pretty dang busy for me and I didn't get much sleep but it was a good one to say the least. Friday night some couples from our stairwell got together and painted our pumpkins for Halloween. It was a lot of fun and we had some cute ones this year. It feels like Halloween now.

This blanket was part of my super busy weekend. There was a family in our ward and their little baby passed away last week. So as a ward we made a blanket for them. It was really neat because we had every family in our ward cross stitch a heart onto a square to let them know how much we love them. I was able to teach a little bit about making quilts to some sisters, which was fun to be able to share some of my talents with others. I am a little bit bias, but I think that it turned out so dang cute. I hope that the family knows and could feel that they are loved and in our thoughts and prayers. Over the last week I have been able to think about the gospel and how grateful I am to have it in my life. With out the gospel, it sure would be hard to make it through life.

Well, quite a bit has gone lately and I haven't blogged about any of it. We have been staying pretty busy with life, Chris more so than me. He is busy with work, school, and trying to make me happy (which isn't that hard). I have a few projects that I am working on for Christmas gifts, so that is keeping me pretty busy. Here are a few of the things that we have done.

Our stairwell has done a couple of things together, which has been fun. We went to Pioche for a weekend. My mom turned the big 50 and my high school was celebrating its 100 year reunion for homecoming. That was pretty fun. I guess thats pretty much all of the big stuff that has been happening. Here are the pictures of some of our happenings.

In our stairwell almost all of our birthdays were either in August or September so we had a dinner and then hit a pinata. It was quite entertaining.

We have had construction going on for a year now around our apt. I'm about sick of it, but thats another story. Well they seemed to think that they could just park in our parking spot whenever and for as long as they wanted. We finally got sick of it and Chris made this note and put it on the tractor. It was pretty funny. We thought that they would get the hint and move it the next day. Nope, it was still there. I finally called good ole Wymount and talked the manager and they moved the tractor right away.

So I've never been much of a blogger. I think I've written maybe one or two posts since Kimber started blogging over a year ago. However, I had a thought the other day and I've decided to act on it.

If you know me, you know that I love to eat. Lucky for me, I'm half Japanese and it seems like my metabolism is more Japanese than Caucasian and I'm the same weight that I've been since high school. Not only do I love to eat, but I love searching for new recipes and trying them out. Who knows, if the whole structural engineering thing doesn't work out, maybe cooking is something that I can fall back on. I had the thought the other day, "Why don't I create a blog and post some of the great recipes that I find?!?!"

So here goes nothing. I'm planning on posting recipes that I find (and like) on the blog. I'll try to get pictures of the different dishes and post them as well. I know that it's always nice to compare what you made with a picture of what the dish is supposed to look like.

By the way, Kimber is the mastermind behind the looks of the blog. If it were up to me, I'd have a solid color background with black text. Lucky for me, she enjoys making blogs look cute and she's good at it.

Another Labor Day in Pioche

We made the trek down to Pioche for Labor Day again this year. I look forward to going home for Labor Day every year. This year was a little bit different from than last year, because we had two new nieces that we didn't have last year. Our family is growing and its a lot fun. I don't know if Chris is to happy about the exchange for it though. They took our ESPN away a few months ago for it. But I am totally happy with the exchange. So excited that I had to blog about it.

My brother Vinnie and his family came up for the weekend. It was so awesome to meet our new niece Kloe and to spend time with her. All I have to say is that she is dang cute. Our best buddies the Alletto's have begun the journey to Boston today. We are going to miss the heck out of them. For the last three years we have been pretty much inseparable. We helped them pack up their apartment Monday night and cried as they drove out of Wymount. I asked Chris, "What do we do now." Lucky for us they stayed in Salt Lake for a couple of days and we were able to go to Thanksgiving Point's Garden last night. It was fun to have one last get together.

Chris just celebrated his 26th birthday. He can't tease me about almost being 30, because now he is too. He worked like 8 in a half hours. All I can say, is its a good thing he likes his job. We went out to dinner with Swami, Jamie, & Asha. We sure do love the Alletto's and are going to miss them when they move :(. Then we came home and played games and hung out. I kind of forgot to take pictures of us at dinner and of Chris with his presents. I did get a few though.

Be Prepared its a long one

I can't believe it's been over a month since I have blogged. There has been so much that has happened over the last little bit. Our new little niece Kloe was born on July 28th. She is seriously so dang cute. At least in pictures, since we haven't met her yet. I am a very proud aunt though and like to show off my adorable nieces.

We went and saw The Fray in concert. It was such a good concert and we had a lot of fun watching them. Jack's Mannequin opened up for them and now Chris is a big fan of them.

Chris had a work party up at Deer Creek Reservoir. He works with some really good people and we had a good time with all of them. Chris has become a fan of Kayaking now and wants to get one.

One of my mission companions was in Provo and stopped by. It was so much fun to see her and visit. Its been such a long time. Then I had my birthday yesterday on 8/8. I am now one year older and wiser too. Well I am for sure one year older, but not so sure about the wiser part. It was such a good birthday. Chris took such good care of me and spoiled me. I am so lucky to have him in my life. We went up to Salt Lake and watched Cirque du Soleil. It was so good. It was amazing what they were doing. Totally think that everyone should go and watch it. We also got a new laptop yesterday also. Our laptop that we had was on its last leg and I was about ready to chuck it out the window. Chris shopped around and decided to go with a Mac. The cool thing about getting is I got a free Ipod touch with it.

We decided at the last minute to go out to Pioche for the 4th of July. It was the best weekend. I enjoyed myself so much and had such a good time with the family and my cute nieces. The Latest

The last couple weeks have been great. We had a ward camp out down at our Bishops cabin in Mt Pleasant. We had such a good time. We have started playing sand volleyball again, which we both love to do during the summer. We took some girls that I work with to the Oquirrh Temple open house. It was so beautiful and a such good experience, at least for me it was. Chris and I were able to talk to them about the temple and other parts of the gospel. I love all of the questions that they ask. It makes me feel like I am back on my mission in ways. It also makes me want to have the spirit with me even more. Anyways, we had a really good time. Oh yeah, and some yummy Thai food before we went.

We had a really fun relaxing weekend. Friday night we went with some couples in our ward up Provo canyon and had a little bonfire, made s'mores, and roasted starburst (my fav). We had a lot of fun. I just love being outside and doing things like this. Saturday was such a beautiful day. We spent most of the day outside. We were able to play alittle bit of sand volleyball. Chris had a intramural soccer game. Then we just played some games and visited with our neighbors on the lawn outside and soaked up the good weather.

Chris's best friend from back home got married yesterday in Rexburg Idaho, and we weren't about to miss it. Neither of us had been up to Rexburg & Idaho Falls before, so it was a fun adventure for us. We left early Saturday morning and came home early Sunday morning. We had so much fun seeing Joseph & Melissa, and of course the Bassett family.

We spent the night in Idaho Falls. Right directly behind our hotel was the Idaho Falls temple. After the reception we went with the Bassett family on a walk along the Snake River. It was so pretty and fun. You can kind of see the temple behind us.

Chris and I went down to Las Vegas for the weekend. We have been wanting to go and see my brother and his family forever and never seem to get down there. Well a lady that I baptized on my mission was getting married this weekend down there, so it was a great time for us to go down. We had such a good time. Here are a couple of pictures from the trip.

You probably thought that the new addition was a baby finally, but its a CAR! We have been looking and wanting to get a new car for awhile. With Chris doing his internship and me working trying to juggle a good car schedule for the two of us was getting tough. He forgot about me on Monday and I was stranded at work :) So now we have a big case of the buyer blues, but have a really nice Altima now.

Today we went to the Utes spring football game. It was a lot of fun, minus freezing our tushes off. Chris was in Heaven with all of the Utah fans and oh so much RED. He had a grin from ear to ear. It was pretty cute. He did tell me that I couldn't wear my BYU attire. I was alittle bit sad, but I managed. It was kind of funny because there was this kid by us that went to BYU also and some one in the crowd said its a cougar. The guy in front of us said we eat cougars around here. We were laughing. I leaned over to Chris and said lets not tell him where you go to school. It was funny.

The Happenings of April

So far April has been pretty good. Chris mentioned in an earlier post that he was able to get an internship, which we are really excited about. I am so proud of him and all of his hard work. He just rocks and I love him.

Well let me tell ya what has been happening. For general conference weekend Mama Yeates came to Utah to visit. We had so much fun with her. We were able to go to both morning sessions of Conference. I just love Conference. All of it was really good. It always makes ya want to be a better member of the Church and step it up. I realized that I need to be a stronger Christian. During the priesthood session we went to Rodworks for their girls' night. Chris's mom had never been there and wanted to go check it out. It was pure chaos... women everywhere. We got some really cute things, but had to stand in line for an hour and a half for them. Crazy, I know. It was fun though 'cause we were able to just visit.

Happy Easter!

I love Easter because we are able to think about the Savior and all that he has done for us. Without him we would be nothing. It is a huge comfort to me to know that we are truly never alone. He is always there for us and with us. The Lord has truly blessed us so much and continues to. We are so very grateful.

Thats pretty much all thats been happening around our place lately. We just keeping busy and loving life.

Internship with Acute Engineering P.C.

Exciting news today! I interviewed with Acute Engineering several weeks ago. The interview went really well and I left feeling pretty good. They weren't sure if they needed anyone but their business had picked up in the recent weeks. They needed until the end of the month to know if business would be good enough to consider taking on an intern. A classmate of mine works as an intern there and he must have said some good things about me.

I got a call from Acute yesterday and they wanted me to come in and meet the principal engineer. We had a good talk and they offered me a position. They said that I would get 20 hours a week with the possibility of that increasing depending on how much work they get. But they said that I would get at least 20 hours a week. So I finally got an internship! It's going to be great working in an office and putting all the things that I have been learning into practice.

Acute does mostly residential structures with a few commercial structures here and there. I will be designing homes and small structures like that. It's going to be great! Here's Acute's website if y'all want to check it out: http://www.acuteengineering.com/

I'll also continue grading for one of my professors. It's been a good job this semester because I can do it whenever I want and while watching TV. I've been able to kill two birds with one stone all semester long. The best thing is that I have been able to clock in from home and just work in my own apartment. I'll also be starting my research for my thesis. I'll be picking up on a project that another graduate student has been working on and I should be done by April 2010.

We thought we would welcome ourselves back to the blogging world. It has been quite a while since we had posted anything. The last couple of months have been good, with a lot of fun exciting things that have happened. First off we never shared our excitement in the Utes victory over Alabama. We made U pancakes (they are supposed to be red) and Chris was all decked out in his Utah get up. He was running and screaming around the living room. I am so glad that they won for my sake. It could have been ugly around the Yeates home if they would have lost.

Just a little bit of Utah Pride

The next wonderful thing that happened was our great friends Swami and Jamie had a beautiful little baby girl named Asha. We are so excited, because we pretty much became an aunt and uncle again. Now we have three of the cutest nieces ever.

We have had a lot of family come and stay with us over the last little bit. My parents have been coming and going. My brother Vinnie and his wife Jordan came up and spent the weekend and Valentines with us. It has been so much fun to have them with us. We sure do love family. Our door is always open to anyone. (Hint, Hint our door is open to the Yeates clan as well, when you get a chance to come and visit).

Chris took the GRE at the beginning of January. He studied for a week and then took it and did really good on it. So he has now applied to BYU and U of U for graduate school. Now the waiting begins to see where we go.

That has been pretty much what has been going on in the life of Chris and Kimber over the last couple of months..

Rockin' New Year

We had a great New Years Eve with Swami and Jamie. We watched some of our favorite movies from 2008, we rocked out on Rock Band, and pigged out on junk food. We couldn't decide where we wanted to eat and each of us wanted something different, so we went to Carls Jr, Taco Bell, and Panda Express. We started the night out by rocking out on Rock Band. Then we watched Baby Mama. I love that movie so much. It is so dang funny. Then we rocked out some more on Rock Band. Then we went over to the Mcdonalds for a bit. Then we came back home and watched Iron Man. That is how we brought in the New Year. I am excited for 2009 and what it has in store for us.The Perspiring Ramp. Thats the name of our Band.

Christmas in Pioche

It is our off year with my family this year and we were planning on being in Houston for Christmas, but plans had changed. We decided to head to Pioche. It was just the two of us with my parents. Without the rest of the family around it has been pretty quiet. It has been so relaxing and we have had some eventful things happen.

Let me start off by saying that I love Christmas so much. I get so excited for Christmas morning that I can't sleep the night before. My whole life I have woken my family up so early, and this year wasn't any different. I told them that I was going to wake them up at 5 am and they didn't like that so we settled for 6 am. I had woken up at 4:20 and just laid in bed forever waiting. Right at 6:00 I woke Chris up which was a lot of fun and then my parents. We all got up opened presents and had such a good Christmas morning. You will be able to tell by the pictures of Chris how excited he was to be up. I am usually the one taking the pictures so their aren't really any pictures of me, which is fine with me. So here we are Christmas morning at 6 am.

Christmas day we went down to my uncle's house for dinner. The got rock band and Chris enjoyed playing it with them. As you can see here he truly is a Rock Star!

We had a pretty big snow storm in Pioche Christmas day. It was kind of nasty. When we got back from Panaca we were going to play a game and the power went off. We had a black out for about and hour or so. We had to get out the lantern and use it as our light until the power came back on. It was pretty fun.

On Friday Chris and I went down to my grandma Donohue's to make taffy with her. It is her famous vingar taffy. It is so yummy!

We have had such a great Christmas. We have enoyed spending time with family and one another. We also have been able to reflect on the savior this Christmas. We have truly been blessed and are so grateful.

Kenji the Yuki Daruma

We have gotten a lot of snow over the last few days, especially on Monday. So for family home evening we decided to make a japanese yuki daruma (snowman). We had a lot of fun making him. We did have to unpack our winter stuff so that we could bundle up though. Just a little side note: Last Monday afternoon, we received a call from Wymount saying that we could stay in our apartment. We were so excited, but we had pretty much everything all packed up. What a crazy week we have had. Anyways, back to our FHE. Here are some pictures of us making Kenji the yuki daruma. Thats what we named him.

Just Grateful

I am so grateful for the priesthood in my life and in my families life. Our home teacher came over to visit us tonight and we had such a great visit. We are grateful for him and his willingness to come and visit us each month by himself. I know that it is not easy, but we apprecitate it. Tonight he shared a message about the savior and the atonement in our lives. It really made me think about how much I have relied on the Atonement this past week in my life. I don't think that I could have made it without my Savior and my husband by my side. Our home teacher also gave Chris a blessing, which was awesome. Tonight I have realized just how blessed I am to have the priesthood and gospel in my life.

Tuesday evening Chris found out that the company he was going to be working for had retracted his contract. They had to let go of 20 people and because of that they couldn't keep him. So needless to say we have had a roller coaster of emotions. This has been a pretty big trial of our faith. We both had quit our jobs, rented a moving truck, put our 60 day notice in for our apt., and were planning on moving in just over a week. We pretty much had nothing left in Provo but friends and family, and there is nothing in Houston right now except for family as well.

After a lot of thought and prayer we have decided to stay in Provo for one more semester. The Lord has really blessed us and things are working out for us. Chris is going to push back graduation until April. The doctor I work for gave me my job back, however Chris doesn't have a job. He is going to try and get part time work at an engineering firm, for the experience. A couple in our ward is going to be gone for the semester and is going to sublease their apt to us.

We are so grateful for the many blessings that we have been given. We had wondered why we hadn't been able to get a home loan and now we know why and are so glad that we didn't. We can't even imagine that on top of this. I know that we will look back at this years down the road and realize why this has happened. But for now, we have learned that we need to replace fear with faith and that the Lord really does watch out for us.

We are also very grateful for everyone that has helped us out and all of your thoughts and prayers. We have really felt them over the last couple of days.

Randomness

We have had a pretty eventful weekend. Saturday night we went to a live nativity at the Provo Tabernacle. It was pretty good. The highlight was the live camel that they had outside. It was really hard to get a good picture of us with it. Swami said it was like we were at Disneyland with all of the kids trying to get their picture taken with Winnie the Pooh. So this is the best that we could do.

We did get a good one of Swami, Jamie, & Chris though. You can actually tell that it is a camel.

We are going to miss Swami & Jami so much once we move. We don't have to many days left with them and it makes me sad to think about, so I try not to. We are so lucky to have became such good friends with them. We are definately going to go through Swami & Jamie withdrawls.

Also this weekend Chris was released from the bishopric and I was released as Primary President. It was kind of a bitter sweet thing. I'm excited to move on to the next phase of life, but I am going to miss the people that I was able to serve with and the sweet little children. One of the little boys came up to me after church and just wrapped his arms around me and said, "Sister Yeates, I love you and am going to miss you." I hugged him back and said, "I love you to bud." Then he puckered his lips up ready to lay a kiss on me. I wasn't really sure what to do, so I leaned down and he gave me a kiss on the check. This just touched my heart and me feel so good. Oh, how I love the kids of the BYU 11oth Ward.

Okay, the last thing that we have started to do today is PACKING. I have not been looking forward to this at all, but it has to be done. I started with the back bedroom so that we would have a place to put the boxes. Chris came back and started helping also. I appreciate him and all that he does. He is so busy right now and he always thinks of me and how he can help me out. I love him so much for that. Here are som pictures of us with our first day of packing.

We came out to Pioche for Thanksgiving. It is one of may last trips home for awhile, so I am just treasuring every moment of it. On Thursday night we had a girls night out. My friend Zhalore was able to get us tickets to a premier showing of Twilight. We had so much fun and it was crazy at the movie theater. Overall I thought that the movie was good. It was pretty cheesey though so we just laughed through most of the movie. Today Chris and I celebrated our 3rd anniversary. It is crazy to me how fast the time flies, especially when you are with somone that you love. The Happenings of the Week

The last week was a busy one. There were a lot of things that were going on. Here are a couple of pictures from the week.

Chris & I went to the ballet last Saturday. Our Bishop was playing in the orchestra & got us some tickets to go & watch. We had a great time. I was taking pictures of us on the way up. I kept giving myself a double chin, so this was about tenth attempt. You can tell by the look on Chris's face.

Some of the girls from work & I had a girls night out. We went out to dinner & had some yummy Thai food. We ordered so much that the people working there were talking about the three girls that were getting all of this food. It was really fun. Next week we are going to watch the Twilight movie the day before it comes out. I can't wait for that.

My cousin's Justin & Corey had a football Game Thursday night up at the U. I went up & watched them play. They won the game so they are headed to the State Championship game next Friday. Go Hurricane Tigers!

Primary Program

Our Primary had our sacrament program today. I am so proud of my 7 little primary kids. They did such a good job. They each did great on their little talks, they sang their hearts away, and of course they gave everyone a few laughs. I do have to say that I am glad that it is over with. It was a little stressful at times, but we made it. Heavenly Father answered our prayers and sent more kids to our our ward (we went from 3 kids to 7). It is kind of hard to have a program without any kids. I am grateful for such a great presidency and music people to help out. I couldn't have done it without them. I am so grateful for my calling. I can't think of a better place to serve in the church. I am going to miss these kids so much when we move in December. They are so dang cute and have the sweetest spirits. I love them so much.

I am a new aunt again. My brother Kyle and sister-in-law Eva had their little baby girl yesterday, Sophie Jayde. Can I just say how excited I am. It's all I have been talking about. She is so dang cute and adorable. I have only seen pictures of her, and I already love her so much. I can't wait until Thanksgiving when we get to see her and hold her. Oh, being an aunt is the best, especially when you have two of the cutest nieces ever!I will be posting pictures of later.

The weekend update

We just wanted to update everyone on what has happened over the last week in our lives.

We had our ward Halloween party, which was alot fun. Chris was a nerdy basketball player.

The donut eating contest. You weren't allowed to use your hands while you try to eat the donut off the string. After you eat the donut you were supposed to whistle. This was funny 'cause Chris can't whistle, so he was saying Whistle, Whistle.

We went to the Jazz's opening game with some friends. We had a good time. The Jazz had 5 blocks, so Taco Bell does this thing were you get a free chalupa. The 6 of decided that we wanted to go & get one. When we got to the drive thru at Taco Bell they told us that they didn't have any. They really didn't understand what we were asking for. Lucky for us Ryan spoke to them in Spanish, and with the help of Swami yelling in the background we got our free chalupa's & had a good laugh.

This was the sunrise when we came out of our apartment Friday morning. It was so pretty. We are so lucky have this right outside our apartment.

The other thing that happened on Friday was... Nevada Day!!! Yep, you heard me Nevada Day. It happens to be the same day as Halloween so we would get the day off from school. It was great. As the state song goes, "Home means Nevada". The closer we are getting to moving to Texas the more and more I am realizing "Home means Nevada".

For our Friday date night we painted our pumpkins. One of my friends did this and I thought that it was way cute, so Chris and I did it tonight. It was pretty dark outside when we were doing it, so we had to do it out in front of our apartment underneath the street light. Lucky for us they are doing a bunch of construction work out in front so we were able to spary paint on the dirt. We had a lot of fun. Here are some pictures of our adventure.

Our little Primary had a Halloween party at one of my counselor's mom's house this evening. It was so much fun and the kids looked too cute all dressed up in their costumes.
